How to Make a Gift

Hostelling International-Wisconsin members, supporters, and friends make gifts to HI-Wisconsin with many kinds of assets and in a variety of forms. We are a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax deductible. Your gifts to the HI-Wisconsin help us to continue our mission to “help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling.”   Cash donations are vital to our Opening Doors, Opening Minds and World Travel Programs, as well as to new hostel development.

Gifts of Cash

Traditionally, a majority of the gifts made to HI-Wisconsin come in the form of cash- via check, credit card, or on-line using Paypal.  A gift of cash entitles you to the most generous federal income tax deduction available for charitable contributions. (You may deduct up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income for gifts of cash and may carry any amount over that figure forward for up to five additional years).

Gifts of Other Assets

Gifts to HI-Wisconsin can come in the form of other assets as well. For example, you may wish to consider gifts of closely held stock, tangible personal property, or real estate.  We are appreciative of HI-Wisconsin supporters who choose to remember us in their estate planning.
